Collecting unpaid collections takes a lot of time and money. That must be possible differently, according to MKB Brandstof. Through a collaboration with Rabobank partner POM, entrepreneurs receive a payment link to pay their invoices quickly. Here's how it works.

Best communication flow

Most entrepreneurs know or use an MKB Brandstof card. Useful for collecting business car costs on a single invoice when filling up, loading, parking and more. Delinda Popken within the Marketing team at MKB Brandstof, is responsible for customer experience management. “I see how a customer goes through the steps on our channels and what communication is best suited to that,” she says. This also includes the communication flow around invoicing customers.

Still collecting money

For billing business users of MKB Brandstof, the company uses direct debit by default. “But that doesn't always work out,” says Deolinda. “For example, because an entrepreneur does not have enough money in the account at the time of collection.” That is why MKB Brandstof was looking for an accessible and fast way to still collect money from customers in these cases. He found it with Rabobank partner POM, which automates and robotizes the debtor and collection process of companies.

Special flows

POM offers companies various tools to let their customers pay digitally. Like letters with a QR code or emails and texts with a payment button — entirely in the sender's corporate identity, of course. The iDEAL payment is then made via a secure environment. Together with POM, MKB Brandstof built special flows to collect unpaid collections.

“Sometimes the amount to be collected is low, so we can be more lenient in terms of tone and payment term.” Delinda Popken

Coulanter tone

Deolinda: “The flow of payment requests is fully handled via POM — if you wish, our customer service can still step in at the end of the flow. We have set up various flows based on the amount or the status of the agreement. Sometimes the amount to be collected is low, so we can be more lenient in terms of tone and payment term. But in other cases, the amount is so high that we use stricter measures in terms of flow. POM works intuitively, so you can easily set up these types of flows based on certain characteristics.

Paid within one day

To collect the invoices, MKB Brandstof has made an API link between their own billing system and POM. “Setting up our credit management in this way brings us a lot. In a month earlier this year, we sent out around 85,000 invoices. Of these, 4,000 were followed up via POM. As many as 78 percent of them paid via the flow, and also within one day on average. The advantage for the entrepreneur is that he can easily pay the amount via a payment link, for example on the mobile on the way to an appointment. If we have to track these failed collections manually, it costs a lot of time and money. '
