Innovative energy management software homii uses POM platform
“If we still printed the letters to tenants and the address stickers ourselves with our first customer, put everything in envelopes and delivered all the letters ourselves, nowadays we let POM take care of that. All we have to do now is press a button.”

Founder
Unnecessary energy consumption is a shame. For the environment and for your wallet. But finding out exactly about your energy consumption is not always a matter of checking the meter. That's what Arnon Kadouch also discovered. He then came up with homii, an innovative energy management software that gives tenants and landlords of apartments with block heating a clear picture of heat consumption. To communicate with tenants, homii uses the POM platform.
It has been a few years since Arnon Kadouch moved to an apartment complex with block heating. He remembers well how — a few months after he moved in — he sometimes wanted to know what his energy consumption was. “My monthly advance amount for the block heating was set at one hundred euros and I was curious if that was a bit true,” he looks back. “Only, no one could tell me anything meaningful about that. Not even the manager of my block. It wasn't until the end of the year that I was told.” That must be possible differently, Arnon thought. And things can also be done differently now, because with the help of the homii founded by Arnon, tenants and landlords of apartments with block heating can see quite accurately what they can expect in terms of heating costs at any given time and thus create energy awareness.
Complex
Meanwhile, Arnon understands better why he couldn't get that insight at the time. “At first, I thought: just build an app for that and it's done. But that turned out to be a bit more complicated! After all, there was quite a lot involved in developing our software. You have to deal with various things, such as the collective costs for the entire block and the meters on the radiators in the individual apartments. And then there are many variables, such as the location of an apartment. Quite complex.” He laughs: “That's why it wasn't there before, probably.”
Arnon therefore wants to quickly remove the image that he developed the software behind homii himself. “I came up with the idea, but to develop it, all credits really go to my co-founders Noam Blitz and Ilya Pimenov. They have developed an algorithm that allows us to make very accurate predictions about heat consumption and then translate that consumption into euros.”
Portal and app
With the software developed, homii has developed two products. “The first is a portal for housing associations with various tools, including budget management, insight into overruns and automatic advance calculations,” explains Arnon. “In addition, we have an app where housing associations can communicate with tenants about the development of estimated heating costs. To inform residents of the app's existence, we use POM's shipping platform.”
Super efficient
And that is “super efficient”, says Arnon. “If we still printed the letters to tenants and the address stickers ourselves with our first customer, put everything in envelopes and delivered all the letters ourselves, nowadays we let POM take care of that. All we have to do now is press a button. And a big additional advantage: we know nothing about the tenants, except an address and the heat consumption at that address. We don't know who lives at those addresses. This is important in view of privacy legislation.”
More options
Arnon sees many opportunities to further use the POM platform. “When identifying significant energy consumption, for example. If you already see in the homii dashboard in February that a resident is about to fly out of control, you can send a letter with one click to alert the resident. Or an email, if, after a data enrichment campaign — also via POM, of course — we have an email address.”
CAN mentality
The cooperation with POM is going very well, says Arnon. “If you just look at the work they take off our hands! Not only sending the letters, but also, for example, when creating the layout of such a letter. There are many templates available. In addition, communication is very easy; we can switch quickly with each other. Moreover, POM has a real can-domentality: they think from the perspective of possibilities, which works very well. Our customers also find it familiar. When we say: we work with POM, we often get the response: “That's great, we work with that too!”
