Sending payment requests

What payment requests can you use for your customers and how does it actually work?

Everyone has to deal with payment requests every day. Whether it's paying an invoice, transferring the rent, charging your energy bill or refunding the previous evening's dinner. More and more often, these are being sent digitally and why not. In this blog, we look at payment requests in general and how you can send them to make your customers pay easily, quickly and, above all, safely.

Use payment requests for your customers? That's how it works!

How do digital payment requests work

Payment requests have been around for years, and they're really just a request to your customer to pay the outstanding invoice. Previously mostly printed or as a PDF attachment in your mail. Nowadays, mostly digitally via a payment link in the mail, SMS, Whatsapp whether letter with qr code.

E-mail

At a payment request via E-mail the customer receives an email containing a payment link or button to the payment page. The customer can then easily open the mail and click on the button or payment link at any time of the day. He or she is then redirected to a secure and personalized payment environment. Here you can proceed directly to payment.

SMS

Sending an SMS with a payment request may seem a bit outdated, but nothing could be further from the truth. The number of customers who pay after receiving a payment request by SMS is very high. This is partly because your customer can easily open the payment link on his or her mobile phone and pay it directly via the mobile banking app. This way, you will have the money in your account within seconds.

Whatsapp or Chat

Whatsapp and online chats are increasingly being used to increase customer interaction. A question about the payment of an outstanding invoice can be followed up by sending the payment link. Your customer can then open and pay for them directly via the secure payment page.

Digital payment request on paper

It seems a bit contradictory but nothing could be further from the truth. A printed invoice can also include a digital payment request. By adding a QR code on the invoice you give your customer the opportunity to pay the outstanding invoice digitally. The customer simply scans the QR code and is then redirected to your organization's secure payment page. Here, the printed invoice can be paid with a simple action and the amount will be directly in your account. Safe, simple and fast.

Payment request payment

When you send a payment request to your customers via email, SMS, Whatsapp or print, they will receive a message containing a personal payment link. This link or QR code then refers to a personal payment page where the customer can easily pay the invoice. The customer does not have to enter any further details or payment details. What remains is to pay the invoice easily and securely via iDEAL, PayPal, bank transfer or one of the other payment methods.

Benefits of digital payment requests

The big advantage of sending a digital payment request lies in the speed and correctness of the payment. A digital payment request can be paid immediately. Your customer only has to do a few actions to complete the payment. Furthermore, the number of typing and writing errors is kept to a minimum, now that data no longer has to be copied. As a result, the financial administration spends less time each month matching the payments received.
